We’re starting a feature on people who come visit us at the office. We’ll torment everyone with the same 5 questions.
Today, in a break from being on tour (opening nationwide for Chris Isaak no less), MIA DYSON popped around to say hello. We suspect she really comes over to play with Remy, but tolerates us as well. Mia’s played shows with artists like Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks and many others in both her native country of Australia, as well as the U.S. We put Mia to the test with our hard-hitting interview:
undercover tracks and Remy: Who are your biggest music influences?
- Mia: Lucinda Williams. Leonard Cohen. Neko Case. Bonnie Raitt. Tom Waites. Chris Whitley. Bonnie Prince Billy. Bob Dylan.
ut & R: Do you have a memorable celebrity moment?
- Mia: When I was thirteen, my dad took me to see Bonnie Raitt play at Hamer Hall in Melbourne. Exactly thirteen years later, not only did I get to open for her at the same venue, but she actually knocked on MY door to introduce herself.
ut & R: Australia/U.S. Thoughts?
- Mia: I miss the food and landscape in Australia, and I love the atmosphere of support and encouragement towards artists in the U.S
ut & R: Do you have any special hidden talents?
- Mia: (enthusiastically moves arms around and plays musical tunes as hand farts)
ut & R: Name five things you are loving at this particular moment?
- Mia: 1. The CD “North Hills” by Dawes
- 2. Spicy tuna on crispy rice at the original Katsuya in Studio City
- 3. The Burbank hills at sunset
- 4. Currently watching “The Wire”
- 5. Custom-made shoes from Rocco’s in Melbourne
We want to thank Mia for her time, and make sure you catch her latest track “You & Me” on our ARTISTS page!
